That Was the Last Show

VIDEOS: On May 7, 2019 I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. I went home & wrote a song. That May 26 I performed what I thought was my last show with The Well Said duo. It wasn't. I am now cancer free.

The Well Said duo of singer-songwriter David Guilbault and lead guitarist Nick Nordahl performed what I believed would be our last show on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Tim’s Tavern in Seattle.

Nick and I performed my songs: This is the Last Time, Waves of Blue, Empty, On My Fingertips, By His Own Lips & In the Truth. You can watch the show here on YouTube.

I had just been diagnosed with bladder cancer on May 7th of 2019. I was frightened, but resolved. I went home from my procedure at the Seattle VA Medical Center and wrote a song about it called “This is the First Day.”

The next month, I got a trans-urethral resection of the tumor that removed the slow-growing cancer. Every year since I’ve gotten a cystoscopy to see if any bad cells have returned. They haven’t. I am cancer free.

A trans-urethral resection of bladder tumour (TURBT) is usually the first treatment you have for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. Your surgeon removes the tumor in your bladder through the urethra. The urethra is the tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of your body.

The Well Said duo made our return to the stage in a Songwriters in Seattle showcase at C&P Coffee Company in West Seattle in March of this year. We’ll be returning to that wonderful & welcoming venue on June 9th. If you are in the Seattle area, Nick and I invite you to join us.

In the meantime, thanks for your time and consideration. I hope you enjoy my music. Please be safe and well.
